What is brachioplasty?
Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin of the upper arms. It remodels, strengthens and redefines the lineament of the upper arms.
The ideal candidate
Brachioplasty surgery is recommended for anyone in good physical and mental health who are bothered or embarrassed to expose their upper arms.
Dr. Zadeh often recommends liposuction before a brachioplasty to remove fat deposits in the upper arms. During the excision of the excess skin, Dr. Zadeh pays special attention not to disturb the deeper layers of fat in order to protect the nerves, glands and veins of the arm. The incision is made from the armpit and extends towards the elbow.
Dr. Zadeh performs this operation under general anesthesia for patient safety.
Post operative and healing
Bruising and swelling can be observed during the first two weeks following surgery. Any pain or discomfort can be controlled with prescription medication prescribed by Dr. Zadeh. A compression garment must be worn for a period of three weeks. Return to work can normally be done after one week, while avoiding heavy lifting until complete healing of the incisions. Dr. Zadeh recommends IPL treatments to help diminish the look of the scars.
