Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a commonly performed procedure, for both men and women. You can get very good results if it is done by the hands of an expert rhinoplasty surgeon, like Dr. Zadeh.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery, is a procedure used to reshape the nose. It can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the tip, the bridge, the nostrils or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip.

The ideal candidate

This procedure is performed on candidates looking to meet aesthetic goals and who have realistic expectations.

Procedure

A rhinoplasty usually takes between one and two hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure. It can be performed  through a closed approach (incisions inside the nose ) or through an open approach where the skin  is raised from its support frame (bone and cartilage) and then sculpted to the desired shape. The nature of the sculpting and the technique used will depend on the individual needs and will be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Zadeh.

Anesthesia

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure and in a certified surgical facility.

Risks
  • Bleeding (1%)
  • Infection (rare)
Post-operative and healing

Bruising and swelling around the eyes and nose may persist for several days. Patients are advised to apply ice packs for the first 48 hours after surgery. 70 percent of swelling resolves within 3 weeks.  Any pain or discomfort can be controlled by painkillers prescribed by Dr. Zadeh. In addition, patients may wear an external splint on the outside of the nose. This splint will prevent the nose from being hit or moved accidentally during activities and sleep. Internal septal splints may be placed to allow the straightened septum to heal in its new position .  Dr. Zadeh will give specific guidelines to meet the needs of each individual. It may take up to eighteen months to fully appreciate the results of this procedure.
