Since the last years, breast implants surgery became an extremely popular surgery. But before making any decision, here are couples of questions you need to know before the surgery.
What is a breast surgery?
A breast augmentation is a surgical prosthesis that is placed inside the breast to augment and create another physical form of the breast.
This procedure aims to increase the size and shape of your breast. Dr.Zadeh will place a silicone or saline implants under your chest muscles or breast tissue. During your consultation with the surgeon, you will also discuss the different incision options:
- Incision that is done in the crease under the breast
- Incision that is done in the armpit
- The incision around the nipple.
The choices of incisions depend on several factors, including the size and the type of the implants, and the anatomy of the patient.
What is the difference between saline and silicone implants?
Silicone implants are made of a silicone pocket that is filled with silicone gel. They are widespread because they normally offer a very natural look after the surgery. The size of the incision will depend on the size of the implants you choose.
Saline implants are filled with salt water and tend to be a bit firmer, to ripple a bit more and less natural than the silicone implants. They are placed in your body and Dr.Zadeh will fill them. The incision is a bit smaller than the silicone implants and in the case of leaks, your body will remain safe.
How to choose the good size?
During your consultation with Dr. Zadeh, you will have to decide the size of the implants. A breast augmentation is a surgery, so, you’ll need to think carefully before opting for this surgery. And to be honest, the size of the implants will depend on your silhouette and your style. You can try on different boob sizes before making a decision. It will give you an idea of the size you might like.
How to choose a good surgeon?
It is not every surgeon that is qualified for this surgery. You need to choose a professional and licensed surgeon for this intervention. Dr. Zadeh is a member of the American and Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and also of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
How safe is it to have a breast surgery?
Many studies have proven that there are no risks of cancer after a breast augmentation. Meanwhile, if you have a strong family history of breast cancer, or obesity or smoke, these factors increase the risks and complications after your surgery.
How’s the surgery? And after?
If you’re having a breast implant surgery, you’ll have to stay overnight in the hospital. The patient will be given painkillers to relieve the pain. Absorbable or dissolvable sutures will disappear within 5 to 6 weeks. During couples of weeks, approximately a month and a half, you’ll have to wear a special bra and might feel some pain as well. It will take between 8 to 10 weeks to go back to exercises. It is frequent to lose some feeling in your nipples after the surgery but it depends on a number of factors, including breast shape and type.
